Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksText is a buddy-icon style where lettering is the primary visual element, from names and phrases to short slogans in pixel blocks. Small symbols, stars, and logos often frame the words, and the spacing of characters is usually the quickest way to spot it.
