About the numbers

Canonical icons and stored files are different counts

A canonical icon is the copy selected for the main wall when the archive knows that several files belong to the same visual family. The stored-file count includes those display copies plus retained duplicates and variants. That is why a complete preservation download contains more files than the gallery headline.

Descriptions are machine-assisted interpretation. Source evidence, original file bytes, and moderation decisions remain separate records underneath them.
