Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.

In compact graphics, labels above, below, or beside the subject often repeat for emphasis and can be the quickest way to recognize the icon’s identity.
