Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksText Boxes refer to buddy icons that include framed or bounded text areas, speech shapes, or caption zones beside the image area. The panel can sit above, around, or over the visual, so the words become part of the icon’s meaning even when the portrait is simple.
