Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksStencil Like Lettering refers to buddy icons where the lettering resembles stenciled marks, with cutout-style edges, thick outlines, or negative-space letter construction. The examples use blocky stenciled symbols and bordered text where the letterforms look printed through a template.
