Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksStarbursts are buddy icons featuring radiating burst motifs with a bright center and pointed rays as the dominant mark. In these samples, differences in ray count, spread, and accent color make variants distinguishable even when text is crowded or repeated.
