Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksStar Movement refers to buddy icons where stars or star-like symbols are the moving elements, shifting positions or twinkling across frames. The background and character can stay fairly simple while the icon’s animation rhythm comes from the star motion itself.
