Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksSouthBeach (GeoCities) is an archival source label tied to where these files circulated, not a visual style or content type itself. The label appears across disparate subjects, from pixel characters to letter-only graphics, so appearance stays mixed while provenance stays constant.
