Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksRetro Digital Graphics identifies buddy icons built from repetitive pixel layouts, bright accent colors, and framed text or symbol decorations. Looped motifs, stars and hearts, and mirrored sections make these images feel like compact digital message art instead of realistic scenes.
