Read the short historyRecovered from the early web
Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksResigned points to a subdued emotional register of acceptance, fatigue, or muted disappointment expressed through wording and tone. In buddy icons, this is often carried by straightforward text overlays and restrained compositions that feel like coping more than celebration.
