Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksRepetitive Pattern is the repeated placement of text, symbols, or shapes across a buddy icon so the eye reads a rhythm before any single subject takes over. Patterns may be concentric frames, mirrored text phrases, or motifs like stars and roses laid in regular arrays.
