Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksPromotional identifies buddy icons where explicit copy shares equal weight with the image, using slogans, titles, or labels as part of the visual goal. A figure, mascot, or performer is usually present, but the wording is intentionally clear and fast to parse at icon scale.
