Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksPlayful identifies buddy icons with light, social messaging cues such as affectionate phrases, hearts, and friendly symbols beside character or text compositions. To inspect these, look for smiley expressions, star accents, pink and blue combos, and decorative details that imply a casual mood.
