Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksPixel Art Character is a low-resolution character icon made from square pixels, usually a full-body figure with identifiable face and outfit. In buddy icons, the subject often appears in alternate poses, with speech bubbles, text, and facial changes that clarify who or what is portrayed.
