Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksPattern groups buddy icons built from repeat motifs, where background or text elements recur in measurable tiles, checks, diamonds, or repeating words. Even when figures are small, the recurring layout itself usually defines the look, especially when the same graphic block appears in matching positions.
