Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksOverlay describes buddy icons with extra graphic layers laid over the base image, such as words, symbols, or translucent shapes. The added layer may partly obscure and partly frame the main content, and alignment or opacity can create a stacked look.
