Read the short historyRecovered from the early web
Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksNumbers buddy icons center on numerals as the primary visual subject, from single sequences like 062307 to rows of repeating date-style blocks. A reliable reading is to check where numeric groups sit beside hearts, borders, and tiny symbols that anchor them in the same icon cell.
