Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksMusic artists are performers and musicians, including solo acts and bands. Their buddy icons combine portraits, names, logos, and music-related imagery, with lettering sometimes remaining easier to recognize than a tightly cropped face.
