Limited Palette
Limited Palette covers buddy icons that rely on a narrow set of colors rather than broad tonal variation. Flat fields, simple fills, and restrained hues are used to keep the design readable, with color accents doing much of the work.

It started with a game that needed a few authentic AIM icons. Then I had 1,000. Then 10,000. At some point, I had a buddy icon problem.
