Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksLight Skin Tone identifies buddy icons where the depicted person appears with a light skin complexion in face-forward or close-cropped portraits. The effect is usually reinforced by dark hair or clothing contrast and simple expression details.
