Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksLight Background describes buddy icons set on pale, light, or near-white fields behind their main subject, giving cleaner separation. The light field may be flat, textured, or gradient, and even a simple pale backdrop often makes names, faces, and small props easier to read.
