Read the short historyRecovered from the early web
Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksHearts Shift Positions features buddy icons where heart symbols move across frames while surrounding elements stay familiar. Small pink, red, or yellow hearts change placement around pixel text, creating a gentle motion cue without needing full character movement.
