Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksHandwritten identifies buddy icons that foreground script-like text meant to look hand drafted, not typeset. Look for uneven strokes, scattered punctuation, hearts, or symbols mixed into the lettering so each phrase reads slightly improvised.
