Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksGreen Foliage describes buddy icons that include leaves, plants, shrubs, or leafy backdrops beside the main subject. In these samples, characters and creatures are often framed by green outdoors textures, which can separate them from text-rich foregrounds.
