Read the short historyRecovered from the early web
Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksGlow describes buddy icons that build their impact around luminous effects, such as bright halos, pixel light bursts, and edge bloom around text or small figures. A practical read is to look for color contrast that shifts around a glowing center, especially in darker or muted backgrounds.
