Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksDark Hair identifies buddy icons where the character’s hair is clearly dark and visually distinct from skin and nearby tones. Pay attention to bangs, head outlines, and silhouette contrast, especially when the face is tiny or partially covered by effects.
