Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksDark Gray identifies icons where muted gray tones carry the main visual structure, often using charcoal, slate, or dusty tones instead of bright color. In these samples, fish-like forms, triangular clusters, and small text or faces become readable through careful transitions between dark and mid-gray.
