Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksCharacter Head focuses on an image where the main subject is the face or head area with the body reduced or absent. In buddy icons this is a tight render of hair, eyes, and facial contours, often in pixel grids and with exaggerated cartoon proportions.
