Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksChanging indicates repeated variation over time, with textual, symbol, or small graphic elements cycling while the same core subject remains recognizable. In buddy icons, these shifts may be subtle—highlighted accents, switched labels, or altered motifs—rather than a full redraw.
