Read the short historyRecovered from the early web
Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksArt is used for buddy icons built around symbolic or abstract imagery rather than a straightforward object portrait. Look for framed compositions, geometric partitions, stylized figures, and bold patterning that reads as a designed graphic in a tiny canvas.
