Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksAnime Style identifies buddy icons with anime-like rendering, especially large stylized eyes, shaped hair blocks, and head-or-face centered framing. Many examples add tiny motion on eyes or mouth and include text overlays that sit beside the character rather than replacing it.
