Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive worksAbstract Background refers to nonrepresentational backdrops made from color fields, geometric fragments, and expressive streaking instead of literal scenery. In buddy icons, foreground motifs sit on these painterly or chaotic canvases, making the backdrop a compositional counterpoint.
