Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive works8 Bit Font describes typography built from blocky square pixels, where letters look stepped and retro instead of smooth. In buddy icons, repeated short messages often become the key visual element, with color and placement carrying the style as much as the words.
