Buddy icons survive in old directories, fan sites, downloadable packs, and web archives. The archive preserves the original files, groups known copies, and records where each one was found.
How the archive works3 Symbols buddy icons feature sets of three small repeated mark-like elements, often hearts, stars, or affection signs, built into the composition as the visible accent. The cue is spotting a trio of icon glyphs used as decoration or emphasis around text or figures.
