Depeche Mode: fandom with an install button
A surviving official promotional page connects concert-film imagery, AIM installation, and message-board identity in one small download collection.
One image, two destinations
The Devotional buddy-icon page describes images taken from the film projections for “I Feel You” on the DVD. It gives separate instructions for AIM and the band’s message board. A fan could carry the same visual reference between a conversation and a community profile.
That connection is explicit in the source. We do not have to infer intended messenger use from a small image’s dimensions alone.
Distribution is part of the design
The installation instructions are as revealing as the pictures. They reduce the distance between recognizing an image and adopting it. The download page gives a promotional object an immediate personal use.
Read this alongside the music collection. A performer’s portrait, a band logo, and a fragment of a film projection communicate fandom in different ways. The archive-wide shelf is broader than this one official source.
Keep the route back to the page
A copied file can lose the explanation that made its imagery recognizable. Preserving the source URL and surrounding instructions restores some of that context. It still does not give a capture date the status of an artwork’s creation date, or turn preservation into a license for reuse.
